"The Robe"

It all started in the late 1970's in a little apartment high above the streets in a little corner of the Bronx called Riverdale. A young little energetic lad by the name of Corey was busy running around creating
chaos as all little boys can. A very talented and creative mommy decided to give her little man a task-to pick out his very own material with the colors of his choice to make his very own, very special personalized robe just for him.
Overwhelmed with excitement, the little lad along with his mommy scurried off to go shopping. The young one did his part and picked out the brightest vivid lime green and royal blue he had ever seen. The mommy did her part and sewed and sewed till an incredible, reversible velvet lime green and royal blue robe emerged in all its glory.
Well the little man wore his robe with pride from the first night his mommy wrapped the calf length masterpiece around him till the day the not so little lad had to resign to the fact that his beloved robe had served him well and may need to be retired. This was quit a decision for the young man for he loved his robe dearly but as he stood looking in the mirror and realized his beloved robe would no longer cover the bottoms of his boxers he knew it was time.
Well the robe went were many beloved creatures go once they have served their loyal companionship-to a wonderful great big farm in the country. Here the robe found not one but two new masters by the names of Nick and Zack. These two also loved the royal blue and lime green robe for years to come until they too realized that they could not grow another inch or the robe would no longer be able to serve its purpose.
But just when the robe was beginning to feel like no one loved him, a precious little girl by the name of Charlotte found the blue and green robe and decided it was the most beautiful thing in the world and once again gave the robe purpose. After many more years of keeping the young lady warm and dry after her baths and cozy during Saturday morning cartoons, the robe knew the time was nearing when Charlotte would take him off for the last time. By now he knew the cycle of calf to knee to thigh to retirement and with no other children in sight, the robe became very sad as he was boxed up and just knew retirement must have finally come.
A few months go by and the robe was awakened one Christmas morning by a bright light. Someone had opened the box! And a familiar face of a man stood before him filled with joy as he peered down at the magnificent robe. The robe peered back with pride as he realized the great man that stood before him was once the little lad that he had kept warm and safe all those years before. The one that had picked out his vivid lime green and royal blue colors that were know a subtle green and blue. And the rob was so delighted to be back in the hands of his master, he jumped into his arms. There the robe realized his purpose for an adoring little creature crawled over, snatched the rob from his father's hands and cuddled up with him. The robe was even more delighted to be passed on to his master's son.

"Thank you to Nick, Zach and Charlotte for taking good care of me and allowing me to be a part of your lives. I will never forget my many wonderful years on the farm. Love, The Robe"
